Users

Users represent either human or non-human identities. UMT managed users are those identities for which UMT is authoritative allowing for lifecycle rules to be applied.

Managers will have visibility of those identities that report to them. Other administrative roles, however, may grant visibility to identities who report to others.

For example, a Tenant Administrator role may be created to grant authority over all tenant user types.

The primary navigation panel will present shortcuts to the various visible users as such:

  • My users: by virtue of managerial responsibility
  • Users by user type: by virtue of some delegated administrative role
  • All users (helpdesk): by virtue of an administrative role with the View/Manage All Users permission

User classification

Users are classified by four sections:

  • The schema determines what attributes can be selectable when creating a user type.
  • Roles determines user permissions and which user types they are the administrators of.
  • User types defines what attributes and values can be applied to users of different user types as well as assigning administrators and approvers of users of this user type.
  • Third parties defines the third party that the user is associated with and their details.
